I'm a 66 year-old white male. I grew up in the Bible Belt, but now split my time between the Washington DC suburbs and West Virginia.

Raised in a fundamentalist Baptist church, I now consider myself an atheist. My wife is African American and a Catholic. She can't believe she's married to an atheist and I can't believe I'm married to a Catholic.

I'm a liberal who enjoys ranting about politics, religion, and race relations in this country. Sometimes I write with passion, sometimes with humor. I'm not always consistent, but I try to keep an open mind. I write on NEON GODS to maintain my sanity. I don't claim this blog is anything but my way of screaming out in frustration.

I'm also a veteran. You can call me names but don't EVER call me a traitor.
