To add to my post below about rising gun violence in the U.S., here are two more stories that just appeared on the AP feed -
A man went to the Muckleshoot Casino early Sunday looking for a woman, found her on a crowded dance floor with another man, shot them both and continued firing, wounding five others before being tackled by a security guard, authorities said.
All seven victims were hospitalized, at least two with critical injuries, Auburn Police Commander Jamie Sidell said. Two others received minor injuries while trying to flee the scene.
An Indiana sheriff says a 4-year-old boy who was fatally shot while out fishing with his father was struck in the head.
Wells County Sheriff Monte Fisher told The Associated Press on Sunday that Jacob Michuda was shot in the head late Friday night while he and his father were fishing from a pier at a pond outside Ossian.
Forty-six-year-old neighbor Bruce Pond is being held on a preliminary charge of reckless homicide and is due to appear in court Monday.
Family friend Trisha Ulmer tells The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne the shooting was a "freak accident."
Fisher tells the Bluffton News-Banner alcohol was involved and that Pond apparently shot at a light on the pier where the father and son were fishing.
By the way, this was the "fourth fatal shooting of an Indiana child in less than a month" according to the AP.
A 4-year-old Cedar Lake boy died Thursday after accidentally shooting himself, a 2-year-old Connersville boy died July 14 after accidentally being shot by his 5-year-old brother, and a 6-year-old Martinsville boy died June 30 after being shot by his 11-year-old brother.
Remember, these are gun owners who are responsible for killing innocent victims. The NRA always describes gun owners as law-abiding, super-citizens who own guns for sport and to protect America from criminals and the government. If you believe that I've got some WMDs in Iraq I'd love to sell you.

Not this again,
Trakker, you would so much happier if they got rid of the Bill Of Rights, wouldn't ya.

If you believe this is what the founding father's had in mind when they included the second amendment, you're crazy. They never envisioned the kind of firearms we have available today. And if you are willing to to let gun owners slaughter our kids, cops, and other innocent citizens in the name of freedom, you are SICK! The right goes ape-shit over abortion, they demand we retaliate when religious nuts fly planes into buildings and kill about 3,000 innocent people, but gun owners slaughter far more than 3,000 innocents every year and you guys cheer them on!

You're willing to see the two million people who defend themselves with firearms every year dead instead. I notice you keep harping on " gun owners " , not criminals.
And besides, if wanted to get rid of the Second Amendment, you'd have get rid the First and Fourth as well.

Dan, now you're just getting silly. 2,000,000 gun owners a year would be dead if they were deprived of their guns? Really? That is the stupidest argument I've ever heard. Gun owners remind me of the some of the troops during the Vietnam War who, after burning a village to the ground, claimed they had to destroy the village to save it.

This came to light back in 1993 with Gary Kleck's book POINT BLANK:GUNS AND VIOLANCE IN AMERICA. The Clinton Justice Department in 1997 came up with same results in 1997, as did The National Institute Of Justice.
Both the FBI's annual report on crime in the U.S. ( UNIFORM CRIME REPORT) and the CDC have also come up with same results.

Of course he didn't act alone: He had the whole army of rightwing bloggers, talk show hosts, and associated hate-screamers enabling his twisted mind. Be fair and give them some of the credit.

Dan, this is your claim, You're willing to see the two million people who defend themselves with firearms every year dead instead. Let's look at this. About 50% of American families have guns in the household and 50% are not armed. So here's the deal. If you claim that of the 50% who own guns, their guns prevent 2 million deaths a year, what about the other 50% of us who are not armed? Shouldn't there be 2 million of us killed every year? Where are they?

horsec: Did you notice how quickly the rabid anti-Muslim Christians shut up when they found out a fundamentalist Christian terrorist just killed over 90 innocent Norwegians?
Posted by: Trakker | July 25, 2011 at 06:29 PM
But your statement has no facts to back it up Trakker.
In 2009, there 13,636 murders in the U.S. Of those 737 were justifiable homicides by civilians, and 679 by Law Enforcement.
You working with the theory that all gun owners are stalking all non-gun owners. Talk about the stupidest.
There 215 million firearms in the U.S. and about 100 million gun owners. According to your theory, 100 million people at least should be dead.
The bad thing about this whole thing is you are using rants to counter facts, and fear instead of reason. 99% of gun owners are responsible people. But you don't want to hear that.
Like I said before, you can't get rid of the Second Amendment, without getting rid of the First Amendment; are ready to do that?

fundamentalist (belief of your choice) terrorist
The problem is people who are sure they're right, right *enough* to kill people whose view differs. These dolts are self-unaware, unable to see that they too could be wrong.
The solution? let everyone who is sure they're right wear a target on their back. Make it legal for them to hunt each other for sport.

That would include you as well Trakker.
And as I have stated twice, you can't get rid rid of the Second Amendement without getting rid of the First Amendment as well;are you ready to do that Trakker?

There is no way anyone ois going to even try to get rid of the second amendment in my lifetime, although I suspect sometime in the distant future it will be repealed.

Sorry I haven't been here for awhile,
Just got of the hospital, had a heart attack Friday.
You can't rid the Second Amendment without getting rid of the First. If you a society of firearms , you must also get rid of knownlegde of firearms as well. Books that tell you how to make one in your garage, or how to make a submachine gun in workshop in less then four hours. Polish ungerground made weapons out in the woods during WWII.

Sorry about the heart attack - hope it was a mild one.
Repealing the 2nd Amendment would be the smartest thing we could do as a country, but it ain't gonna' happen.
Are you saying we can't get rid of the 2nd Amendment because there are books that describe how to make them, so it would be useless? There are books that describe how people rob banks and yet we still have laws against it.
