The further decline of America

I just checked the latest Associated Press news feed on my Kindle and here are some of the headlines:

Police: 8 shot to death in Ohio, including 11 year old child

San Diego officer shot; armed suspect killed

Police: 4 found fatally shot in Maryland home

Of the 12 news articles, three headlines report the deaths of 13 people by firearms.

This goes on day after day and yet there is nothing our society can do to reduce this carnage because the NRA, and their notoriously energized and paranoid members, go ballistic every time we try to place some controls on gun ownership.  This is just another manifestation of how the right is turning America into a violent, hateful, banana republic.

Forty-four police officers have been shot to death so far this year, a 16% increase over last year.

You blame a machine and attack civil liberties so people don't have to responsibility for their own actions.

On 9/11 some terrorists killed about 3,000 innocent people and we got so upset that the Republicans started two wars to avenge and prevent it from happening again. 3,000 innocent people. Gun owners kill about 3,000 innocent children a year because they are angry with their girlfriend or they lost their job or just can't stand living anymore. I'd really like to hold them responsible Dan, but most of those cowardly gun owners then shoot themselves or make the cops shoot them, and - DAMN, there's no one to punish.

I'm sick of this Dan. I'm sick of the NRA telling me what fine upstanding citizens gun owners are when my Associated Press feed recounts stories of gun owners shooting innocent people day after day. I'm sick of gun bully's telling me that the answer to crime in America is arming everyone. This is not what civilized countries do, Dan. I deeply admire the founding fathers, but they made a few mistakes - which should come as no surprise because after all they were human and thus fallible. Slavery was one mistake, the 2nd Amendment was another.

You call gun owners terrorists, yet you defend the actions of car jackers.

What do want to do? Send the US military to war with gun owners?

Dude, you've got let your fear go before something really bad happens. If you want to kick off another civil war in this country, this the perfect way to do it.

You've commented here off and on for two years maybe? In the past I've gotten so fed up with your comments (because they honestly don't make sense) that I've blocked your comments. I'm going to have to do it again. It's not that I disagree with you, it's because you seem unable to read what I write with an open mind and rebut my arguments with logical arguments of your own.
