I didn't write anything about the 9/11 anniversary because personaly I'm embarrassed to admit that Osama bin Laden achieved a much larger victory than he ever imagined. He knew what many of us have still not figured out: killing 3,000 innocent people doesn't really upset Washington, more Americans than that die each year because they don't have adequate health insurance. What scared Washington and their wealthy corporatist sponsors was losing those two huge very expensive buildings in downtown New York City, and the wealth it represents. THAT's what Washington is willing to spend Billions of our tax dollars to insure doesn't happen again. (and Yes, I know I'm overstating this a bit).
I guess this post at Daily Kos pretty much says all I want to say, because I'm too depressed by the way the right has exploited this disaster for the past ten years to think about it right now.

So you rather have it happen again?

Politicians playing that tune inside your head
The Town covered the green in front of Town Hall on 9/11 with 3000 flags. I hate this jingoist crap. We've learned to buy Toyota, MB and BMW by forgiving. Let's just buy Saudi oil and move on. On Saipan, during WWII, 7000 Marines died along with 20k Japs in a week. We have to forget.
The flags are gone today.

But the Japanese surrendered, those who committed war crimes were put on trial, Japan adopted a new government with a Constitution.
al-Qaeda , The Taliban and other terrorist groups haven't surrendered.

al-Qaeda , The Taliban and other terrorist groups haven't surrendered.
The entities cited aren't governments. With whom would we negotiate a surrender? Would we negotiate terms of surrender with each Somali pirate?
Fleas don't manage the life of the lion unless the lion is fool enough to let them. The British lion always had fleas. Governments manage the fleas as best they can but they'll never get rid of all of them.
War on fleas?
The "war" analogy broke down a long time ago. The idea that you can "win" a "war" against something omnipresent is silly. War on drought? (TX), War on flooding? (LA), War on melting ice? (Greenland), War on cancer-causing sunshine?
Elect me, I will keep you safe (free of fleas). The War on Terror is the politician's tool to manage the minds of fools.

Horsec, you sound like a Quisling.
What part of al-Quada's philosophy do you agree with?
That women should have less rights then a dog?
That Homosexuals are abominations which should be destroyed?
That Jews must be wiped from the face of the Earth?
That we must book burns so the wrong thoughts won't be seen.
That art and music be outlawed?
That all religions except Islam be erased?
And remember too, the the Black Plague was caused by fleas.

Dan, there is no end to the countries, societies, and religions in the world that I abhor. Education, diplomacy, and leading by example is the way we should deal with it, not endless war.
Think about this, there are scores of countries who are convinced (based on the overwhelming evidence) that man is causing climate change, which is causing the sea level to rise. This is a real threat to island nations like Ireland and Great Britain (and especially the island nations in the Pacific). Yet the Republicans in Congress refuse to acknowledge this, and are blocking every attempt for the U.S. to join the rest of the world in reducing greenhouse gasses. At what point should those nations who are threatened by our ignorance have the right to attack and invade the US and replace our government with people who will make the necessary changes? Hell, that's what WE did in Iraq. We said they were threatening our security so we had the right to invade, and we did.

You're trying to find a way to turn off the War On Terror.
Using Global warming is really kind of silly ( apple and bulldozers), besides that, they would have to invade China and Inda first.
Your stand is, as it always has been; whatever the problem, its America's fault.
al- Quada has given the people of the world a choice ( unless you're a Jew or Gay, then all you get a quick trip to a necktie party and you're the guest of honor).
Convert, or die.
Besides, doesn't it upset you a bit that you share the same view point as Skin Heads? They're against the War On Terror too.

You're trying to find a way to turn off the War On Terror
- DDD
If we can't "win" the WoT, why are we in it?
Is it:
a) an academic exercise?
b) an entertainment? or
c) a "war" fabricated by politicians to aggrandize themselves, to capture the minds of the moribund electorate and keep their jobs?
Did we win the war on fleas?
Surely said in jest. How many people wake up every day and say to themselves, "Should I go with AQ? Y/N"
AQ is not a player on the world stage, they're a nail that sticks up out of the boards causing an occasional laceration of a foot, hammered down by anyone with a hammer handy.
There are always nail-pops on the world stage. Terrorism, like nail-pops, is not a big problem.

Who's cares about the " Wold Stage", this isn't political theater.
This is about people being killed by a bunch of neo=fascist bastards who plan on winning at all cost.
You don't want to do anything to stop them; what if they use a nuke on a city, blame the people who turned into ash by the terrorists.
BTW, we did win the war on the fleas; when was the last time you heard of anyone dying from the Black Plague.
I bet you ignore serial killers, child molsters, and rapists because they not impact on " The World Stage ".

"...a bunch of neo=fascist bastards who plan on winning at all cost."
Damn, that sounds a lot like the tea party.
I fear the tea party/Republican party/libertarians far more than I fear al Quida. al Quida was only successful in 2001 because we had pompous, self-centered ignoramous in the White House who felt he was smarter than the intelligence agents who kept warning him about Osama bin Laden. And that seems to be the whole MO of the right: "We're smarter than the experts" - just listen to Bachmann, or Perry or Palin or almost every other RWer running for President.
I don't think there is any way I can get you to understand why I fear the tea party/Republican party/libertarians more than al Quida. That's because it appears you are an idealogue instead of a thinker. So any comment you post here and any of my responses are a complete waste of both our time.

My God, you are a Quisling.
Your desire is to be at war with your own people. Not because of some act of violance committed, but because they disagree with you.
The Dark Storm is upon us.
But in the end, you're not going to like how it turns out.
Posted by: Dan D. Doty | September 18, 2011 at 02:46 PM
Dan, sadly you haven't realized it, but it's the right who has declared war on the rest of America! We're only fighting back. It's the right who is trying to turn America over to the rich, it's the right who is trying to shrink government, it is the right who is trying to cut our revenues and shut down our public schools and exterminate unions. It's the right whose overriding goal is to defeat Obama even if it means destroying our economy. It is the right who refuses to compromise with Democrats unless they agree to give you 100% of what you demand (which of course isn't really compromise). But you see none of this as a war on America.
You can call us any name you want but you on the right have the potential to cause the impoverishment and even the deaths of far more Americans than al Quida.
Posted by: Trakker | September 18, 2011 at 04:25 PM
No, that's the drama playing in your head.
You're looking for excuses to hurt people, to strip of the rights and property ... maybe more.
Do even know what a Quisling is?
Dude your hate is out of control, and I can prove it to you.
Posted by: Dan D. Doty | September 18, 2011 at 06:38 PM
No, Dan, I can see right through you and all the others who want to take America back to the 19th century. I don't hate you so much as fear the kind of America and world you envision. You have accused horsec and I of betraying America, which is, of course slander, and it just proves you consider those who disagree with you to be enemies of the state. You are, in fact, at war with us - which just proves the point I've been making.
