Okay, lets play a game. Two crimes, two punishments. Let's see if you can match the crime with the punishment.
Crime:
1. A CEO of one of the nation's largest privately held mortgage lenders was convicted for his role in one of the largest corporate frauds in U.S. history, estimated to be 3 Billion dollars.
2. A homeless man went into a bank and demanded money. The teller handed over three stacks of money, but the robber took only $100 and gave the rest back. A day later he felt bad for robbing the bank and turned himself in to the police.
Punishment:
1. 15 years in prison
2. 40 months in prison (3+ years)
I'm sure you saw this coming. All you had to know was that one was a rich CEO and the other was a homeless man. This is just another example of the life of privilege the 1% lead. This is the kind of shit that the poor, especially, get bludgeoned with all the time in America. This might explain in some small way, the Occupy Wall Street movement.
I will be returning to Maryland this weekend and I hope to spend some time at the Occupy DC gathering next week.
