If you read the comments on local news sites or even national ones like the WaPost you know that there are a lot of white people, mainly in the nearly all-white rural states in the middle of the country who are in a perpetual fury about "those people," who are parasites living off the tax dollars of hard-working white people.
We all know who "they" are. I've even tried engaging some of the commenters in debates about the subject, but the bottom line is always the same, "they" are by nature violent and lazy, and it's time we stopped the government from taking money from the good people and giving it to the parasites.
My wife is one the the "they." She attended a historically black college and has stayed in touch with many of her classmates. Also, she comes from a large family so over the years I've spent a lot of time with people many on the right consider parasites. Two weeks ago we had dinner with some former classmates at one of their homes. The house was large and expertly decorated. The grounds were beautifully landscaped. It was the kind of house you would expect from two successful professionals. It's also important to note that their house was in the middle of a predominantly black neighborhood with hundreds of similar homes, nicer than ours by a mile.
My wife's classmates and their husbands are smart, knowledgeble, and well-traveled, smarter than me by a mile. These are people who got an education, worked very hard, invested wisely, and are now retired and spending the money they have earned. Hardly parasites, they are actually the class of consumers who still have money and are keeping our economy afloat right now. The thing is there are hundreds of thousands just like them living in the suburbs of Washington and every large metropolitan area in America.
Why am I writing this? To first make a point that these are the beneficiaries of Martin Luther King's sacrifices (and those who put their lives on the line to march with him). The laws that resulted from the civil rights movement opened the doors for African Americans to get a good education, jobs, and a chance for the American Dream, and many, many African Americans did just that. This is why we have a national holiday to celebrate MLK's accomplishments - and to all those white Americans who vehemently opposed it (I'm looking at you Ron Paul): screw you!. Secondly, but just as important, it seems that no matter what the facts, the haters on the right continue to consider people they don't know or understand perfect targets for their constant need for enemies and people to look down on. Many whites who write bigoted comments are shocked and angry when blacks, or whites who have black friends, coworkers, even family members, call them out as bigots and respond to their comments with anger and disgust. They appear to honestly believe that blacks (and Hispanics) are parasites on white society. I just can't keep quiet when I see these idiots express their hatred for people they know nothing about.

You mean the same way you express your hatred for people because of their religion, or that they in live what you might call " fly-over country".

Subtle, very subtle...
Sadly, Ecclesiastes includes nothing about keyboards or clicking on "send."

The only people that consider AA's parasites are Dems. Ask Johnson or any Klan member.

KennedyGuy: I've had plenty of arguments with righties who are quite open about their feelings that African Americans are leeches and parasites that live of the tax dollars of hard working whites.

You say "righties" so I guess that means at least two folks will talk to you. I doubt there are many more than that. Tough that neither they nor you know that the dims are the ones who force the minorites, both brown and black, to depend on the guvmint for their daily bread, both eating and spending. Parasites? Not by any measure. Downtrodden? Absolutely. Having to seek guvmint aide because the dims won’t try to teach them self-reliance and self sufficiency.

Trakker, all you say is that you've had arguments with "righties". I have no idea who you are talking about.
I gave you plenty of real examples. President Johnson, a Dem, loathed negros. As did every member of the Klan. Also all Dems.

Michael King did wonders for the equalization cause - but a saint he ain't. Nor is he even MLK in real life.

K.G: Pres. Johnson might have "loathed negro[e]s" at one time in his life but he fought hard to get civil rights laws passed, even though he knew by doing it the Dems would lose the South for years to come. This is not something a shrewd politician like Johnson would do if he "loathed negro[e]s".
As for the Klan, they may have been Democrats back when Southern Whites were all Democrats, but today the Klan favors the Republicans (you do know who David Duke is don't you?) And I'm pretty sure you know all this already...right?
-------------------------
Ted McG.: If you're looking for saints to lead us you are in for a frustrating search.
I don't recognize any of your links but I suspect they are all highly partisan sites. Wikipedia says he was born Martin Luther King, Jr., son of MLK Sr. I've never seen a legitimate source that says differently, but if he was born with a different name, so what? And if he wasn't a saint, so what? What he DID do was end Jim Crow laws, forced the government to guarantee blacks the right to vote, and gave my wife - a granddaughter of sharecroppers - the chance to go to college (don't worry, her parents paid the whole bill) and a job as a professional, and a middle class life, unlike her sharecopper ancestors.
For this, MLK was gunned down. In return a majority of Americans supported designating his birthday as a national holiday. If that offends you maybe you should re-examine your values.

Republicans got the Civil Rights bill of 1964 passed when Dems did not want it. Everyone knows this.
Strom Thurmond and KKK Byrd (heros to the left) did all they could to block it.
To this day, the Dems hold AA's and minorities back so they can have complete control over their votes. They piecemeal entitlements out to them and then tell them R's are the bad guys.
Dems want to give you a handout. Repubs want to give you a handup.

The Democratic party in 1964 was much different than today, the Southern Democrats (the "Southern Block") who tried hard to block the Civil Rights Bill would all be Republicans now. You know that, right? Until Goldwater, most southern blacks were Republicans, then the party of Lincoln.
It is very disingenious to assign historical responsibility or blame based on party names. The fact remains, the South which was largely Democratic in 1964 tried everything they could to deny rights to African Americans.
As for your assertion that the Dems hold minorities back so they can have complete control of their votes is insulting. Are you saying that Blacks and other minorities are too STUPID to recognize they are being used? Because only stupid people don't recognize when they are being used.
Believe me, African Americans vote for the Democrats in such large numbers because they know the Republicans are hostile to African Americans. They know that the Republican party appeals to bigots. Just what kind of handup do Republicans propose to give to African Americans?
Posted by: Trakker | January 24, 2012 at 09:19 AM
Why is it that everytime I see a Republican AA that person is either a sell-out, Uncle Tom or some other vile, disgusting thing a Dempuke will call them?
Can't AA's make up their own mind about what party they want to belong to without some liberal ahole telling them what kind of disgusting human being they are for doing so?

The people who complain the loudest about Republican African Americans are other African Americans.
It's well known that the Republican party intentionally appeals to white bigots, especially in the south. It's called the Southern strategy and even high ranking Republicans admit to it. Do you think it's just a coincidence that the Republican party is most popular in the south and in rural states that are almost all white?
Every African American knows racists still abound in America. So is it any wonder they are angry at any African American who decides to support the party that uses bigotry to win elections? I think most in the Democratic party feel the same way.
The real irony here is that if the Republican party ever seriously denounced bigotry and worked to make themselves a colorblind party of conservative ideas they would pick up a fair amount of African American support because a lot of African Americans are not that liberal, but they are strongly anti-bigotry.
Speaking of name calling, I noticed that you, too, use some pretty nasty words for Democrats (Dempukes, above). I assume that is your way of "...telling us what kind of disgusting human beings [we] are..."? Why can't we be allowed to "make up our minds what party we should belong to"?
So what did you think of Obama's State of the Union speech? Is he a better speaker than Romney?
