Evidently Neon Gods has been discovered by readers of a conservative blog or website (woo hoo!). No problem. I don't hate conservatives, but I do hate stupidity, and if you deny the reality of evolution, or believe that man is not affecting our climate, or believe that the alignment of stars can predict the future, or believe in ghosts, or believe that the world is flat, please move on.
I grew up Baptist in Indiana, joined the Air Force, spent time in Germany, and now live in the Washington, DC, area. My family was to the right of John Birchers, so obviously I grew up conservative. Fortunately, I escaped.
Do understand that this blog is my outlet for venting frustration at our political system, so, yes, I am sometimes less than civil in my posts. We all have a right to scream at our broken political system from time to time.
--Trakker

Do you believe that we are not alone in the Universe, and we have been visited by other civilzations from time to time?
Is the world flat?
You couldn't convince a two dimensional it was other wise.
Ghost? Still afraid that life after death are we?
To be matter of fact about the world is to blunder into fantasy - and dull fantasy at that,as the real world is strange and wonderful.

I know I'm temporary. This site is beaucoup dinky dow.
I'm going to slap the place around a little and then bounce. If I hang out here too long I'll never get the stink off me.

Everybody needs to vent frustration. Good for you for making it your own blog.
Now, I don't have a problem accepting evolution.
I do think we treat this planet like crap and that it's not conservative or Godly to pollute it. I do question the theory of man made global warming though because we're actually at a lower temperater than in some of the earlier centuries.
I heard a lot of stuff about this place, but I'll wait until I read to decide anything.

KennedyGuy: You are nothing but a silly, arrogant, righty who prefers to believe myths rather than study the issues with an open mind.
Melanie: If 100 structural engineers told you not to cross the bridge ahead of you because they have studied it and deemed it unsafe. Would you ignore them and drive your loved ones across the bridge anyway because you are smarter than the engineers?
No rational person who loved their family would put them in danger. So why are you listening to the non-experts who say this is all a hoax? Why are people like you putting the world (and my kids and grandkids) at risk? Science isn't perfect, but when 95% of the experts agree on something we should pay attention, don't you agree?
I do appreciate you dropping by and leaving a comment. I enjoy debating issues with knowledgeable people.

Have this 95% of scientists explained why it was hotter before? I do agree that we need to be kinder to our envirnment in any case.

Hi Trakker ...
Am glad that you don't hate conservatives ... nor do we hate you, well most of us don't. We have even been known to have liberal members in our own families.
The main problem we have with you, is that you keep voting for clueless liberal candidates!
And yes, I am a Global Warming Denier, as are most people with functioning brain cells. Without getting into a time-wasting back & forth with you on this subject, all I *will* say is ...
There are absolutely NO weather/climate conditions or changes in such, which you folks on the left, wouldn't attribute to man-made global warming, is there?
You are correct in saying/writing, "We all have a right to scream at our broken political system from time to time."
We do indeed, and we scream as much as you do, Trakker. The difference is that we folks on the right are the ones that know how to FIX it!
As for a new reader being "temporary" or not ... I will have to reserve judgement on that one.

Melanie: You're the one that brought up the fact that our climate has been hotter before. Which era are you talking about?
Dagny: Why are you so certain that you on the right are the ONLY ones who have the answers? What is a "clueless liberal politician"? From my perspective clueless describes far more tea party conservative than liberals.
You write, "And yes, I am a Global Warming Denier, as are most people with functioning brain cells." Wow, so you have no trouble labeling all the climatologists all over the world, stupid? Doesn't the fact that 95% or more of the experts in the field believe that humans are changing the climate, and it could be very detrimental for our civilization in the future make you stop and think? You're like the person in my comment above who refuses to heed the word of experts and drives their loved ones across the bridge anyway. That sounds pretty clueless to me.
You write, "There are absolutely NO weather/climate conditions or changes in such, which you folks on the left, wouldn't attribute to man-made global warming, is there?"
How do you know? Are you accusing the left of acting like the tea partiers who decide what a fact is and then tries to make the evidence fit? Science doesn't work that way. If future evidence comes along that casts doubt on global warming we will respect the facts. AFTER ALL, WE DON'T WANT TO BE RIGHT. We would much rather find evidence that says the climate is stabilizing and the threat isn't as nearly as bad as the earlier data showed.
I think you on the right are being mislead. You evidently believe liberals are stupid. I think the two sides are too firmly entrenched to work together in the future. That's too bad...

Medieval times.
Posted by: Melanie | January 24, 2012 at 04:39 PM
Melanie, you're referring to what was called the Medieval Warm Period which occurred between 950 and around 1100. This was the warmest period in the past 2000 years but today's global temperatures have exceeded those temperatures beginning in the 1960s. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_Warm_Period)
The Medieval Warm Period is valuable because it shows that climate alone, without man's influence, can warm the climate but now, with 7 billion people on earth cutting forests and burning massive amounts of fossil fuel, we've seen our global temperature soar. Imagine how warm the earth would have gotten if the there had been 7 billion people burning fossil fuels during that warming period.

Oh Melanie ...
Give it up. Hate to say it ... but have come to the conclusion in my short time in here that this man is bonkers!
While he is definitely entitled to his own opinion ... he is NOT entitled to his own FACTS!
Will come back in tomorrow to reply to his two responses to me, as promised, and then I am outta here!

Dagny: ...and you are welcome to YOUR opinion, but tell me, who do YOU trust on this issue and why? The facts I quoted Melanie are not MY facts, they are the result of hundreds of experts in the field (climatology and paleoclimatolgy) developed over a long period of years. Any errors or personal bias gets called out by other experts in the field who check everything. If you understand science you know that these data are not political.
Surely you trust experts in other fields. Experts in other fields have a good record of accomplishments, if they didn't we would still be bumbling around in the middle ages. Why do you refuse to accept the conclusions of these experts?
Posted by: Trakker | January 25, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Hi Trakker ...
You asked who do I trust on this issue?
Okay, how about a site that ends with dot gov?
Is a US Senate report released Dec.20,2007 entitled:
U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007
Senate Report Debunks "Consensus"
Here is a bit of it:
Background: Only 52 Scientists Participated in UN IPCC Summary
The over 400 skeptical scientists featured in this new report outnumber by nearly eight time the number of scientists who participated in the 2007 UN IPCC Summary for Policymakers. The notion of "hundreds" or "thousands" of UN scientists agreeing to a scientific statement does not hold up to scrutiny.
The whole report can be found here, but I warn you it is quite lengthy and very, very enlightening!
http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.SenateReport
In fact in the last few years more and more of the world's most prominent scientists have come out against the UN IPCC bogus report.
Once again, you'll have to google this for yourself.
I've gotta run!

Dagny, did you read the report? The first thing I noticed was that many of the scientists were not experts in climatology.
At first I assumed that the EPW committee actually contacted each listed scientist and confirmed that they were skeptical of man-made global warming. Isn't that what you would do before submitting a report for the United States Senate. Silly me, the report was produced under the direction of a United States Senator with an agenda, so no, they weren't contacted. But after the report was published a blogger contacted some of the scientists and found some were shocked and angry about being included. All in all a sloppy report.
I finally found a pretty good critique of the report here: http://www.tnr.com/blog/the-vine/inhofes-650-quotdissentersquot-make-649-648
Anyway, here is the current status of the controversy from a source that is kept up to date. The bottom line is this:
In the scientific literature, there is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused mainly by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases.[3][4][5] No scientific body of national or international standing disagrees with this view

Wikipedia? Oh my!
Don't make me laugh.
That site as you full well know, can be altered over and over again by any fool who knows how to use a computer.
On that note Mr. Trakker, I will say ...
Goodbye and Thank you for your service to our country. That I do appreciate.
