Oh Lordy! Here we go again. Old rich white guys in Congress and writing columns for newspapers are demanding that we must go to war again, this time in Syria. Right. I guess they're tired of Iraq and Afghanistan - which they screwed up so badly they are now beyond fixing. Whoops! They could try fixing our own country, but that would remind people that government has a positive role in our lives, so scratch that. Now they've found a shiny new thing to take our attention off of the crappy job they are doing in Washington. They just can't wait to send our kids over to fix Syria (but not their kids because they are busy getting Ivy League degrees and are too important to fight our wars).
We already have a generation of burned out, maimed kids, many suffering from PTSD, many of whom we will be supporting for the rest of their lives (unless our politicians decide they are useless scum who don't pay taxes, and decide to cut off their benefits).
Look, I'm 68 and I've seen this play before, in Vietnam, Granada, Honduras, Panama, Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan. Washington cheerleads us into war and our kids are expected to end it while Washington moves on to their next exciting diversion. Given Washington's track record of screw ups this past decade, do we really want to listen to them anymore?
