I attended Alice in Wonderland (in 3D) with my adult kids last night. The 7:00 movie was sold out so we had to wait until the next showing.
That allowed us a lot of extra time at a nearby restaurant to talk about life and stuff. You can never spend enough time with your kids, especially when they grow up and have lives and families and interests of their own. Sometimes I wish I could have the whole 'raising my kids' thing to do over again. On the other hand...
I love Tim Burton movies, but about 10 minutes into Alice I was thinking this one was going to be a bust, but then we met the Red Queen and the movie took off.
Personally I like the new 3-D technology. The glasses don't bother me - after a few minutes I forget I have them on. My son, however, dislikes the glasses and the 3-D (he says 3-D forces screenwriters to pay too much attention to making sure there is a lot of eye-popping 3-D stuff in scenes and it ends up ruining the story). Maybe, but I kind of like those eye-popping effects.
Alice in Wonderland is a movie where you don't have to think. Burton makes sure you know who is the good guys and who the villains are. Pure entertainment. I liked the closing credits with gorgeous 3-D graphics and music by Danny Elfman. The reviews have been all over the place: some liked it, some didn't. If you haven't seen it, read the reviews before deciding.
